Roles

Server roles control what members can see and do. Power Horse sets up a sensible starting point when you apply a template — you can adjust everything in Discord once your server is live.

Core roles

Every template includes four core roles that Power Horse needs to function correctly. Admin and Moderator are required and cannot be removed during setup (you can delete them in Discord later, but the bot will lose associated functionality). Member and Muted are core but optional — toggle them off if you want to set them up manually.

Admin

🔒 Required

Full server management — trusted team members only. Required for Power Horse moderation features.

Moderator

🔒 Required

Keeps the community safe — can kick, ban, and manage messages but not server settings.

Member

Verified community member — used for gating channels and assigning access after verification.

Muted

Silences a user across all channels. Assign to rule-breakers as an alternative to a ban.

Template roles

Each template adds extra roles suited to that community type — for example, the Gaming template includes MVP and Veteran roles, while the Web3 template includes Holder and OG. These are a starting point. Toggle any off during setup to hide them from members until you're ready, or skip them entirely and create your own in Discord.

Hidden roles

A role marked Hidden is created in your Discord server but isn't visible to regular members. Use this for roles you plan to activate later — for example, a Whitelist role before a mint event, or a VIP role before you launch a VIP programme. You can make it visible any time from Discord's role settings.

Changing roles after setup

Everything can be changed in Discord after setup completes. Rename roles, adjust colours, change permissions, add new roles, or delete ones you don't need. Power Horse reads role assignments in real time, so changes take effect immediately. The only thing the bot requires is that the Admin and Moderator roles exist with their default permission sets — renaming them is fine.

Documentation in progress

This page covers the essentials. More detail — including role permission references, XP role rewards, and token-gated role automation — will be added before public launch.
