Channels
Channels are where your community talks. Power Horse sets up a full channel structure when you apply a template, and lets you control who can see what from the dashboard.
Channel types
Templates create the standard Discord channel types:
- Text — normal chat channels (general, off-topic, support, and so on)
- Announcement — for broadcasts members can follow
- Voice — talk rooms
- Stage — hosted audio events like AMAs
Channels are grouped into categories (Information, General, Support, and so on) so the server is organised from day one.
How templates structure channels
Applying a template creates its categories and channels in one step. Some channels start hidden (for example staff or VIP channels) — you can toggle which ones are visible on launch, and reveal the rest whenever you're ready.
Controlling visibility
Each channel has a permission matrix in the dashboard (Community → your server → Channels → a channel → Permissions) where you can hide a channel from a role by denying it View Channel. This is how you build role-gated areas — for example a Holders-only channel visible to a Holder role and no one else.
Verification & visibility
Channel visibility also powers member gating: until someone completes verification, the only channel they can see is #verify. Once they verify and receive the Member role, the rest of the server opens up.
